Outlook 2007: Turn Off Attachment Preview
Outlook 2007 has a new feature that allows you to preview attachments and documents if the handler is available for that filetype. However, some users do not use (or like) this functionality. To turn off Attachment Preview, follow these steps:
1. Click Tools and select Trust Center.
2. In the left pane, select Attachment Handling.
3. In the right pane, under Attachment and Document Preview, uncheck the Turn off Attachment Preview checkbox. If you only want to disable Attachment Preview for certain types of files, leave the checkbox checked and click the Attachemnt and Document Previewers button. From the File Previewing Options window, uncheck the previewers that you do not want to use.
4. Click OK to close the window(s).

Does this really work? I turned off previewer but it still previews the freaking attachment

Close: you mean “check” the Turn off Attachment Preview checkbox, not “uncheck”

This worked for me other than the check/uncheck thing which was pretty easy to figure out. It’s sad that I couldn’t find out how to disable the attachment preview in the Outlook Help documentation. Sad, but not unprecedented, or unexpected. Thanks!

I also want to thank you. What an irritating and pointless “feature.”
One has to seriously wonder what the kids in Redmond are thinking.

Instead of having to open each picture individually, I simply want picture attachments in Outlook 2007 to automatically display below the message (as they dalways did in Outlook Express).
Please send details on what settings to change to allow this to happen.
Much appreciated,
Rory
