iWork for iPad: How to Rename a Pages, Numbers, or Keynote Document

If you need to rename an iWork document on your iPad, you might be puzzled at first as to how to accomplish this task. While it is pretty simple, it doesn’t exactly stand out. This works for Pages, Numbers and Keynote documents.

Make sure that you are in the My Documents view. Go to the toolbar and tap the My Documents button in the upper left corner.

Locate the document that you wish to rename. Tap the documents name, located directly beneath it.

The document name will now show up in a textbox.

Use the keyboard to input the desired document name.

Tap the Done button on the keyboard.

Your document should now have the desired name.

Thank you for this! I can’t believe how simple but non-intuitive this process was.. I have a ton of blank documents right now as a result of not knowing how to rename them. This article was extremely clear and helpful.

Thanks from me as well. Apple makes great software but never provides enough (sometimes none) documentation. Thanks again.

I don’t have a documents view. Just a plus sign at top left and Edit at top right. I tap Edit and then tap the name below the icon of the spreadsheet to edit the name

I’ve been struggling with trying to figure out how to do this ‘simple’ task for months! Why can’t Apple just tell you this in heir ‘Getting Started’? Many thanks to you.

I use voiceover and have not found any method for renaming the pages file names. The method described only works without voiceover for a sighted person.
