The volume control in XP is large and ugly. Here’s how to bring it down to size.

Not the most complex recipe in the world, but I never knew this until a co-worker showed me.

I use the volume control all the time; however, it takes up way too much screen space when it is open. Keeping it in the system tray keeps it out of the way when it is closed, but what to do when it is open?

You can decrease the size of the volume control when it is open by pressing CTRL-S. This will decrease its size by about half.

Enjoy your smaller volume/play control!
