Outlook 2007: Use Google Reader for RSS Feeds link
Posted by Jimmy Selix in Microsoft Outlook
Ever since Johnny got me into Google Reader, i’ve been addicted. Just upgraded to Office 2007 tonight and realized I didn’t want the silly MS RSS Feeds in Outlook, so i thought i’d share my quick recipe on changing this link to your Google Reader.
This is a quick tip for you google reader fans using Outlook 2007 or 2003 w/the RSS feeds options.
This shows you how to change the main RSS Feeds icon to go to your google reader account.
1. Right click on RSS Feeds in your Mailbox and choose Properties
2. Click on the Homepage tab
3. Make sure there is a check in the “Show home page by default for this folder”
4. Finally, just put in “http://google.com/reader”
5. Click Apply, and then OK.
Now when you click on the RSS Feeds icon, your Main window show bring you to your google reader page, login and enjoy! sure beats re-adding all of your rss feeds!
also, i delete all of the default rss feeds under the icon to keep it clean.

using outlook 2007 and have the home page set to “http : // http://www.google.com / reader” (minus the spaces). FF3 is my default browser. Link in emails open correctly in FF3, however links in the outlook RSS Feeds section open in IE
is there a way around this?
