Use Windows Live Messenger (or MSN) to contact Yahoo users and vice versa
Now with the agreement between Microsoft and Yahoo, it is possible to contact people who use Yahoo Messenger if you use MSN (now called Windows Live Messenger). The same goes for Yahoo Messenger users who would like to connect with their Windows Live messenger using friends.
Here’s how you can do this if you use Yahoo messenger with Voice.
1. You have to join the beta (click on the Join the beta button once you get to this page) since this service is still in beta.
2. Login to your account
3. Click the Get the beta button to download version 8 of their client with includes the abilities to talk to Windows live messenger (a.k.a MSN).
4. Install the beta version (oh yeah, choose ‘Custom Install’ when you are installing and uncheck the yahoo toolbar etc. if you don’t want it), and add your other person, and you’re ready to talk to them!

Here’s how you can do this if you have Windows Live Messenger.
1. Sign up through this link.
2. Then just add the yahoo user’s IM address and you are ready to go…

Currently the service works fine, however, it seems as though you might experience some problems while adding a MSN user through Yahoo Messenger. Everything works well on MSN’s end… except that you might not be able to receive a reply from the yahoo user.
