Facebook: How to Invite Non-Facebook Users to Facebook Events (via Email Address)
Posted by Jimmy Selix in Internet
You know you still have a few of them, I know I do: those friends that refuse to join Facebook. It can be difficult to get these people invited to Facebook Events, lets fix that and invite them via their email address so they don’t even have to join Facebook.
1. Login to your Facebook account.
2. On the left pane, select Events.
3. Click on the Create New Event on the right side.
4. Fill in the information for the Event and then click on the Select Guests.
5. Add any of your Facebook friends from the top search bar.
Add all of your NON-Facebook friends by typing in their email address on the bottom bar. If you want to add a personal message (recommended so they don’t think its spam!), click on the Add a Personal Message link and then once done click on Save and Close
6. Finally, click on the Create Event button and the emails and Facebook invites will be sent.
Now the next step, getting those friends on Facebook.

is there a limit to how many non-facebook users you can invite to an event?

I did this using a dummy email address, when I tried to click the event it gives me an error “You must have a Facebook account to view that page.”. Any suggestions why they can’t access the page?

@claire are you following the link that is within the email you received? you do have to use that link to get to the event. I just did a test w/2 email addresses that don’t have facebook accounts and it worked like a charm. the event i created was not a public event either
let me know if that works or not.

Glad to read your comment, George. Thought I was going nuts. This feature is definitely gone. The only way to get the word out to non-Facebook users, as far as I can tell, is to create it as a public event & email the Facebook event url out to a dist. list.

yeah this is definitely gone. which is good since i created a SURPRISE event in march and the new format i think would have blown my cover. i created a new event today and can no longer invite anyone via email. also new (and hated) is that events show up on peoples’ walls even if it’s a private event and can be seen by people attending. don’t like this idea either, again, the idea is a private event and i might not want others to see it.
