iPhone: Add bookmark folders

The iPhone will be a great tool for people who thrive on being extremely organized. You know who you are. If you are also a thorough bookmarker, sorting them into hierarchical folders is a must. While your iPhone can sync your Safari bookmarks and those folders, you may want to add a new category while you’re away from your desktop.

While in Safari on your iPhone, tap on the bookmark icon (it looks like an open book, the third from the left on the bottom of the screen).

This will slide open the list of your bookmarks and folders. Tap the Edit button at the bottom left of the screen.

Tap on the New Folder button that appears at the lower right of the screen.

In the new screen, your cursor is in the folder title field ready for you to type the name of the new folder.

To be uber-organized, you can have folders within folders.. within folders. If you go beyond that, we recommend you seek professional help, and not the IT-kind, either. To make this new folder a “top-level” folder, just leave things the way they are. Otherwise, to tuck this new folder inside another folder, tap the Bookmarks button and then tap the desired parent folder from the list that will slide in.

When you are done, tap the Bookmarks button near the top left of the screen to return to the bookmarks list.

You can also choose the parent folder that your new folder will go into by selecting the parent folder before tapping the Edit button. This parent folder will already be selected in folder editor screen.
