Avoiding AOL .art Images

By default AOL converts images over to the .art format. Most people feel that the image quality is worse, and it makes it more difficult to save as a jpg or bmp.

By default AOL converts images to the .art format. Yuck. What else in the world supports the AOL format? No much. The image quality is worse. This format is difficult to view, edit, or manipulate in any program other than AOL.

To disable this format:

    1. Open the Settings Menu
    2. Click Preferences
    3. Click Internet Properties
    4. Click the Web Graphics tab
    5. Select Never Compress Graphics
    6. Click OK

Now the web page will be delivered to you the way it was originally designed. Since the images are not converted, you can save them in their original format which makes them easier to use and edit.

THIS LOOKS LIKE A SOLUTION TO A PROBLEM THAT MY COUSIN IS HAVING WITH AOL .ART. SOME WEB PAGES ARE TOO WIDE TO PRINT AND WITH AOL .ART THEY CANNOT BE REDUCED. HE WOULD LIKE TO TRY TO DISABLE THE FORMAT.

IN HELPING HIM I HAD A QUESTION ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTIONS. HOW DO WE "OPEN THE SETTINGS MENU"? IN WINDOWS XP, WHERE IS THE SETTINGS MENU? OR IN AOL WHERE IS THE SETTINGS MENU?

    THANKS
    DICMAR
