Gmail: Google Releases Gmail Notifier

Google has released a new utility that allows the user to be notified when they get new email in their gmail.com account.

Several Gmail notifier programs have been released on the net. Most of these were clunky hacks that scanned the account. Google has released a more efficient notify program.

This program installs easily and will show up in your system tray. Whenever you get a new email in your Gmail account, a brief summary will flash above your system tray.

A nice addition is that the program will redirect all your mailto: clicks to your Gmail account. This can be turned on or off.

If you are lucky enough to have a Gmail account, you should have this little progie.
