iPhone: Delete a calendar event
Find a way to weasel out of that four hour Friday afternoon meeting? Enjoy the satisfaction of deleting the event directly on your iPhone after hanging up with your boss (you can stop the fake coughing now).
To delete an event on the iPhone, tap on the event to see its details.
From the event details page, click the Edit button at the top right of the screen.
In the editing screen, look for the big red Delete Event button at the bottom. Tap that and either confirm the deletion or cancel.
If you have opted to delete an event that repeats automatically in your calendar, when you click the Delete Event button you’ll be presented with the option in the confirmation screen to Delete This Event Only or Delete All Future Events as well as canceling the deletion. If this Friday meeting comes up every two weeks and you don’t think your boss will buy the coughing routine again and you have no more “living” relatives, you can choose Delete This Event and only that occurrence of the repeating pattern will be deleted. If you snapped an incriminating picture of your boss and have gotten out of all future meetings, tap on the Delete All Future Events.
If you delete an event on your iPhone, the event will be removed from your calendar application of choice if you have configured it to sync with your iPhone.

If you cant delete events, you would also want to check and make sure you are not using an exchange account. it is possible that the server is not setup to allow you to remove these from your device and they would need to be removed from your computer then synced with the phone

I accepted the event as the email on my phone is my work email. I am unable to sync my iPhone on my work computer (not allowed). I do not have an edit/delete option for an event that I really need to delete. If I am not able to sync with my work computer, am I unable to get rid of the event?

Go to calandar, select the event (at that time), top right-edit, scroll the page to the bottom, and there should be a delete there.

I had an event originally from Exchange that I couldn’t delete from my iPhone calendar as well. What I had to do was to go into “Settings” > “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” > (Your Exchange Account) > Switch “Calendars” to “OFF”. You’ll receive a confirmation dialog, then you should have cleared out your Exchange calendar completely. Now you can turn it back on and it will re-sync with Exchange.

My event was created as ‘all day’ event. I can’t select the event to edit it. How can I now delete it?

@ Dallas,
the event may have been added from your Contact List, (ie, a Birthday)
correct/delete this in your Contacts List

I have entries I can’t delete or edit and I put them in myself. I sync my iPhone 4s with a MacBook Pro. I was, at one point, able to open ical on my Pro and delete but one of my items don’t even show up there! Any suggestions?

@Dustin: that worked perfectly! Thank you SOOO much! Though I should warn people that it deletes everything in your calender, but still, it definitely gets rid of those events that doesn’t have an edit/delete button!
