Periodically, administrators will run into situations that require that the managed client be uninstalled, especially if the managing server has crashed. The removal of the client requires a password which can be problematic if you no longer have any way of retrieving the password from the server. By modifying the registry, you can uninstall the managed client without the password.
1. Open Notepad.
2. Copy and paste the following into Notepad:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
3. Save the text file as Symantec_NoPassword.reg.
4. Double-click the newly created file. If you are running Windows Vista, the UAC promt will appear, click Continue and then click Yes when the confirmation box appears.
5. The file will be merged to the registry. A confirmation box will appear, click OK.
