Disable the Splash Screen (for Windows)

Posted March 5, 2007 by Rob Rogers in Windows

If you would rather not have to see the splash screen each and every time you run the application, and would like to speed up the startup just a bit, then follow these steps to get around it:

1. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the installation directory for OpenOffice (for example C:\Program Files\ 2.1).

2. Open the program directory.

3. Locate soffice.ini and open it in Notepad.

4. Beneath [Bootstrap], change the value for Logo = from 1 to 0.

5. Save soffice.ini.

6. Close Notepad.

7. Restart
