Google: Improve and Change Summary or Snippet Displayed for Search Results

Recently on google’s webmaster blog, google announced that web site owners and bloggers can directly improve and change the short summary that is displayed for each web result. By improving this summary (aka snippet), you will increase your chances that users will click your link from google and visit your site.

Frequently the snippet or quick text preview that google displays besides the search results are not accurate representations of what is actually on the page.

This will not improve your SERPs. This will only improve your chances that people will click on your site from a search engine query.

You can suggest to google what to use as your snippet by using a meta tag in the HEAD section of your web page:

Do not expect immediate results as you will need to wait until google respiders your pages to see the changes.
