Corel PHOTO-PAINT: Enable and Configure Auto-Save

PHOTO-PAINT’s Auto-save can come in quite handy, especially if you are working on complex graphics with multiple masks and effects. It can be configured to periodically save to the file being worked on or to a temporary file so that the existing file remains untouched. Which one you use depends on whether you are looking to prevent loss of data due to hardware or software malfunction or to easily restore your image to the saved state (due to user malfunction).

1. Click Tools and select Options.

2. In the left pane, expand Workspace and select Save.

3. In the right pane, check the Auto-save every checkbox and select the interval that the save is to be made.

4. Choose either the Save to checkpoint or Save to file radio button.

Save to checkpoint will save the image to a temp file that will be deleted once the image is saved or when PHOTO-PAINT is closed. To restore your image using the restore point, click Edit and select Restore To Checkpoint.

Save to file will save to the currently open file.

5. If you wish to be warned each time the auto-save is going to run, leave the Warn me before saving checkbox checked. If not, uncheck the box.

6. Click OK.
