Playstation 3: How to reset the display output options after changing video cables

This recipe is for Playstation 3 owners who change their video output from using the SCART / Component cables to HDMI or vice versa.  I’ve moved my Playstation 3 from HDMI to Component cables and initially could not get the video to display.  Lets fix this!

1. Hook up your Playstation 3 to your HDTV or TV with your new cables, either HDMI or the SCART cable (Sony adapter that goes to either RCA or Component)

2. Hold the power button on your Playstation 3 until you hear a single beep and then release the power button.  If you hold the power button too long, it will just power down your PS3.

3. After the beep, your Playstation 3 will reset its video outputs to the one you have plugged in and in turn will let you resetup your display options.  By default, the Playstation 3 will choose composite for Display output when you use the Component SCART adapter, change this in Settings > Display Settings > Video Output Settings
