Disable the Real Player Message Center
The Real Message Center is one of the most annoying features of a general annoying product. Here’s how to disable those messages.
I hate products that decide to advertise to me by default. If you have a product that has to advertise itself, your product sucks. Once people use real once in a blue moon… but we spend a ton of time closing those stupid little message windows. Blah.
Here is how to rid yourself of those windows. I describe several methods for you.
New Version ( > 10.0) Instructions–
- Turn Off Real Message Center:
[list]1. Click Start
2. Click Run
3. Type realplay and click OK
4. Real Player will open
5. Click the Tools menu
6. Select Preferences
7. Click Automatic Services in the left catagory menu
8. Click the Configure Message Center button
8. Uncheck Check for new messages
9. Uncheck Show Message Center icon in the System Tray
10. Click OK
11. Read the stern warning. Click Yes
12. Close Real Player
Older Version Instructions–
If a Real Message Window is Currently Up:Turn Off Real Message Center:

2. Click Run
3. Type realplay and click OK
4. Real Player will open
5. Click the Tools menu
6. Select Preferences
7. Click Automatic Services in the left catagory menu
8. Uncheck Periodically check for new messages
9. If you don’t want to know about real player software updates, you can uncheck Periodically check for software updates too
10. Click OK
11. Exit the program1. Click See Details
2. When the real message window opens, select Options
3. Select Personal Message Center from the menu
4. Uncheck all the boxes. Sneaky real hides the ones turned on by default at the bottom of the screen.
5. Click Save Changes
