By default, this new search tool will not index your log files. Here’s how to change this.

Heck, half my business records are contained within my IM log files. Whenever I need to reference that information, I always have to painfully search through those text documents.

No more!

These logs are kept as *.log files within your system by AIM or Trillian.

It is trivial to get MSN Desktop Search to index these files for easy searching.

    1. Right click the magnifying glass in the system tray
    2. Select Desktop Search Options
    3. Click Desktop Search in the left column
    4. Select Advanced under this
    5. Erase .log from the Do not index these file types section
    6. Add .log to Index file types as text
    7. Click OK
