XP: Prevent the Desktop Cleanup Wizard from Running

Kill the blasted desktop cleanup wizard!


If I need a virtual mom to gripe about my desktop, I’ll program one. Until then, quit telling me to clean up my desktop.

Disable the beast:

    1. Right-click on a blank area of desktop
    2. Select Properties from the context menu
    3. Select the Desktop Tab
    4. Click the Customize Desktop Button
    5. Uncheck the Run Desktop Cleanup Wizard every 60 days box
    6. Click OK X 2
