MSN Search: Find MP3s, OGGs, WMAs and Other Free Music Files

MSN Search can be used to find a bunch of free, unprotected music files. Use the new power of MSN search!

This is a well known trick for other search engines. With the addition of some new search options, searching for open directories of free music is now possible with MSN Search as well.

Plus, this finds some files that other search engines miss… woohoo, more music!

Here’s an example:

MSN Search: intitle:”index of” -inurl:.htm -inurl:.html contains:(mp3 wma ogg) “last modified”

The inurl, intitle, and “last modified” tags attempt to only find open directories.

The minus inurl additions may not help much. I am finding basically the same searches without them.

The contains tag only includes pages that actually contain these files.

Of course, add a title or an artist name in there to focus your search to whatever you are looking.
