XP shows the most popular and recent programs used in the start menu. Here's how to change that number.

I run my screen resolution high, high, high. Therefore, I have enough room to greatly increase the number of programs listed on the start menu. This increases those listing of programs on the left side -- the ones that you use most often or recently.

    1. Right-Click Start button
    2. Select Properties
    3. Select the Start Menu tab
    4. Select Customize
    5. Change the Number of programs on Start menu
    6. Click OK
