Googe will easily show you all those ebooks that are hanging out there for free!

Once you learn google search, you can find anything. Want some ebooks? Oh, yeah… google does that easily. Another power searching lesson coming right up.

Google: -inurl:htm -inurl:html intitle:”index of” +(“/ebooks”|”/book”) +(chm|pdf|zip)

What does all of this mean? The -inurl htm and -inul html is attempting to get rid of regular webpages and show just index pages. Looking for index of in the title is doing the same. Using the pipe ( | ) tells google to look for something OR something else. Here were are telling google to look for book or ebook directories… and we have listed several common ebook formats (zip, pdf, chf).

If you would like to look for a particular author or title just tack it to the end of your search.

Google: -inurl:htm -inurl:html intitle:”index of” +(“/ebooks”|”/book”) +(chm|pdf|zip) +”o’reilly”

This uses the same idea but attempts to focus on directories that contain O’Reilly stuff. It’s not perfect, but it’s better than paying.

If you have any other interesting search suggestions, please post in the comments below.

    You should try Gdocu.com!
It's a new search engine for documents (Word, Pdf, Ppt, Open Office) but is the first one that finds file Office 2007!!! Really fast and useful. http://www.gdocu.com

I’ve not read any of Charlie’s previous offerings, but if they’re anywhere as gripping, tense and more-ish as The Enemy then I’ve done myself a disservice. The principal carnival cruise lines are well drawn and convincing; their bravado and desperation is underpinned by sometimes poignant reminders that these are, after all, otherwise normal kids who’ve been plunged into a world where everyone they’re supposed to trust is trying to eat them.

This isn't all that good a formula.

First, Google ignores +s in queries. All search terms are included with an AND unless if you exclude them with -.

I assume intitle:"index of" +("/ebooks"|"/book") is supposed to be intitle:("index of" (ebooks|book)). For one thing, the quotes are unnecessary around a single word. Secondly, Google ignores slashes. Finally, that's improperly formed anyway and matches any "ebooks" or "book" text in the page, thus matching any folder with some random "book.zip" within.

As for +(chm|pdf|zip)... that's ridiculous. You might also want to read HTML, lit, doc, rtf, or txt files that come up. Don't limit your search by filetype! I don't even know what chm is! Instead, let's include a "last modified" in the query, to verify it's a directory listing.

    Final result:

    http://www.google.com/search?q=-inurl%3Ahtm+-inurl%3Ahtml+intitle%3A(%22index+of%22+(ebooks%7Cbook))+%22last+modified%22

Feel free to improve on my suggestions.
