Submit and List Your Website to the Major Search Engines
With the flood of search engines, paid advertising, and submission scams, what is a new website owner do?
You don’t have to have software like the well advertised web position gold to successfully get your website listing into the major search engines. Even with the flood of services offering to submit your web site to a ton of engine, you can submit your sites to the major search engines pretty easily. The 6 sites below are the most important places to submit your site.
- Google: http://www.google.com/addurl/?hl=en&continue=/addurl
MSNseach:http://search.msn.com/docs/submit.aspx?FORM=WSDD2
DMOZ: http://dmoz.org/help/submit.html
Yahoo, altavista, alltheweb,etc: http://submit.search.yahoo.com/
Alexa: http://pages.alexa.com/help/webmasters/index.html
NationalDirectory: http://www.nationaldirectory.com/addurl/
If you do decide to use one of the cheap search engine submission services, make sure you use a throw-away email address. Some of these submission services work okay, but they make money off of selling your email address. Sign-up for a throw-away gmail/yahoo/hotmail account for this purpose.
If you want to cover all of your bases, you could consider a submission service. Many of these are scammers; however, the high-end ones allow you a control panel to see your results. I have used submit fire in the past with some projects and received good results.
