Wanna fill up your iPOD cheap with great music? This is free and legal.

Since I got my iPOD, I have been looking for ways to fill it up without spending an arm and a leg. I have been shocked on the high quality of music files I get by capturing online radio music streams. Using a ripper that captures the mp3 tags as well really makes it nice.

You download, install, and run the ripper. I currently use ripcast. With it, you just select the online radio station that you wish. It will gladly rip as long as you wish. I usually do it overnight and wake up to hundreds of properly ripped and tagged mp3 files. The quality is excellent because it rips from high bandwidth streams.

A tons of streams are available. I usually rip a popular stream, a college stream, and a 80s stream… all at the same time! Last time I checked there were 9000 ripable streams listed.

Here’s a download link for the trial version of ripcast. It cuts you off after a certain number of files. The trial gives an excellent view for you to see how well it works for you.

Download a trial version of Ripcast.

When you open up ripcast, just click the "Station Browser" button.

the aforementioned ripper only allows you to download 30 MBs of data then requires you to purchase a license. Here is a free one.
