XP: Turn off or Disable AutoComplete in Internet Explorer/Surf the AutoComplete Forms of Others

You can disable AutoComplete for web addresses, forms, or usernames/passwords.


AutoComplete can be useful. However, you might be shocked to discover how much information you can obtain in the AutoComplete forms belonging to other users.

If you want to surf AutoComplete, enter the following into the Internet Explorer address box of another user’s computer:
http://www.a

You will likely see all the websites that the person has visited which start with a. Continue through with each letter.

If you are security-minded and always forget to clean out your AutoComplete fields, this is how to turn off AutoComplete.

    1. Click on Tools in the Internet Explorer menu.
    2. Select Internet Options .
    3. Select the Content tab.
    4. Click the AutoComplete button.
    5. Select the check boxes you desire.
