After a new installation of XP, microsoft reminds and reminds and reminds you to create a passport account. Here’s the reg hack to stop it.

Come Microsoft, give it up. Nobody really uses passport. We don’t want to be reminded a million times to create a passport account. Sorry.

Here’s the reg hack to stop this. If you just ignore it long enough, it does go away on its on.

If “editing the registry” is a scary phrase for you, backup your system. If you screw the registry, you screw your system.

    1. Click Start
    2. Click Run
    3. Type regedit in the textbox and click OK
    4. Browse to this registry key:
    HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MessengerService

    5. Click the Edit menu
    6. Click New
    7. Select Binary Value
    8. Rename this new value PassportBalloon
    9. Double click this value and change the value data to 0a in hex
    10. Exit regedit
    11. Reboot
