Our office has around 20 computers. We use a product called AccessPatrol to control the access of USB and other external devices on our computers.

It works like a charm. I downloaded it from www.AccessPatrol.com

Don't make such hassles. Just go forward and download the best software for such a task.
It is uHook 2.1 and its awesome ! because it selectively allows/blocks access to required USB device.
Download it from http://www.dataresolve.com and from my experience it delivers exactly what is claims.
Using it you can also password protect and enable and disable your USB data transfers when required and even keep them under check.
It gives other companies a run for their product because uHook is an excellently built product.

The admins over here recently installed this one http://www.gfi.com/endpointsecurity to block usb device use. I read that they can just choose who can access what. Say goodbye to my iPod music on the pc! :(

After installing SP2 on my laptotp. I was unable to connect any new usb device to the usb2.0 ports. The PC was continuosly asking me for a device ’s driver, which of course for usb pen drive you do no need it.
This new registry key solved my problem!!!!

This is NOT to disallow connecting USB devices. This is to disallow WRITING TO connected USB devices.

Didn’t the name “WriteProtect” suggest it enough?
