Posted August 11, 2004 by MickeyMouse in Windows

The pop-up blocker makes a cute little sound when a pop-up is blocked. Here is how to configure that sound.

XP Service Pack 2 includes a pop-up blocker. When a window is blocked, a sound is made to let the user know. This sound can be turned on, turned off, or changed.

To turn the sound on/off:

    1. Open an IE window.
    2. Click Tools.
    3. Select Pop-up Blocker.
    4. Select Pop-Up Blocker Settings.
    5. Unclick or click Play Sound When Pop-Up is Blocked.
    6. Click Close.

To change the Pop-Up Sound:

    1. Open the Control Panel.
    2. Click Sounds and Audio Devices.
    3. Click Sounds tab.
    4. Under Program Events, scroll down to Windows Explorer.
    5. Click Blocked Pop-Up Window.
    6. Select a sound from the drop down box or browse for a new sound.
    7. Click Ok.
