It seems that there are a great deal of updates frequently put out for various Android applications. if you are tired of dealing with the notification appearing in your status bar, you can disable it and deal with the software updates when you feel like it.

1. Open the Market application.

2. Select the Menu key.

3. Select Downloads.

4. Select the Menu key again.

5. Select Notifications.

6. Select the Do not notify me radio button.

7. Select OK.

This no longer works with the new marketplace all options are removed except spam tailoring and content filter

Please tell me there is a workaround to this problem.  I have the “new” marketplace, and these notifications are driving me insane!!!  In the “old” marketplace, I had the settings fixed for no notifications.  Any help out there would be appreciated.

If you have the new version of market, go to manage applications and select market. From there you can uninstall the update, go back to the regular version and turn off the notifications.
