XP SP2: Disable/Enable the Pop-up Blocker

XP SP2 now comes with a pop-up blocker. Some users find that it slows down, causes errors, or breaks pages. The following tutorial explains how to adjust it.

If you are completely satisfied with Google’s pop-up blocking toolbar, then you will probably want to disable SP2′s new pop-up blocker.

To disable the pop-up blocker, follow these steps:

    1. Open an IE window
    2. Click Tools
    3. Select Pop-up blocker
    4. Select Turn Off Pop-up Blocker

If you have it disabled, you can enable it by the same process. This does not require reloading IE; the changes are instant.
