My laptop won't automatically clone the desktop to my second monitor when I connect it via VGA. It did, but now it doesn't. I can get it setup and displaying multiple monitors but I cannot reset it back to automatically cloning the desktop when connected. Again multiple monitors funtions fine. 2nd monitor is connected properly great resolution just prefer the clone setup. Any help is appreciated. Thxs.

hey i posted this as a main thread, but thought i'd repost it here since this seems to be the dual monitor place to be :)

--
I've just installed dual monitor view using a geforce 7300 on an amd 64 athalon 3500, running on Windows XP sp1, and I've got a dilemma . When using programs such as aim (aol instant messenger) and internet explorer i have no problems, but when im doing something interactive like a video game such as Counter Strike on one monitor and aim on the 2nd monitor, my counter strike minmizes when i click on my aim window. Is there anything i can do to prevent it from minmizing ? Please help !
Thank you soo much

andyp wrote:
It sound like a couple of you (cebello, dannyboy, and tidal wave) have a video card with two outputs that only supports one monitor at a time. I'm having a problem with an nVidia Geforce 6200 PCI-E card. I have a Sharp TV hooked up to the DVI output and a Samsung LCD monitor hooked to the analog output. I can configure it to use the Samsung as the primary and the TV as the secondary and use all the features. However when I shutdown the pc and then turn it on later the card seems to lose all it's settings and tries to make the TV the primary monitor and both the TV and the monitor get a message saying that it's out of range. In order to fix this I have to unplug the DVI cable from the TV and restart the computer. Then once it's booted successfully I can plug the TV back in and set it back up again. It works as long as I only restart my computer, but if I do a shutdown the next time I power up my computer I get the out of range message. It doesn't seem that anyone is paying too much attention to this forum, but if you have any suggestions I'd appreciate it.

andy,,, how many monitors can you plug working at the same time with that 6200 card ? 3 ?

hmm.. this looks like an outdated post, but I'll ask anyway.. I have an msi radeon x300se, and two crt monitors, one of which is running on the dvi-vga transform thinige.. I can get images from both of them, but they both show the same image, clicking "extend desktop" just makes the screen flicker a bit and then it just goes back to not being checked / secondary screen being "grey." If I look in the device management thingie, it only shows one screen, and two screencards (there is only one, but there are two registered with the computer; one primary and one secondary). I've got the latest drivers, I tried that ati control utility, I tried third-party-drivers (omega something).. I think I've tried all I can think of right now... nothing helps.. I get two screens that seem to think they're the same (they also both show "1" if I click "identify").
