By default, Office 2010 places the OneNote icon in the notification area by your clock. If you don’t use OneNote very often, or just prefer to not have it taking up unnecessary space on your notifications area, you can remove it by following these steps.

1. Open OneNote.

2. Go to the Ribbon, click File and select Options.

3. In the left pane, select Display.

4. In the right pane, uncheck the Place OneNote icon in the notification area of the taskbar checkbox.

5. Click OK.

6. Close OneNote.
