Snow Leopard – Remove MobileMe / iSync menu bar icon
Snow Leopard lets one sync his/her own Google contacts and Yahoo contacts to iCal and Address Book. However, a side effect of this is that you will get a Sync Menu Bar item added. For some this is useful, for me its annoying and removing this menu bar item is not as intuitive as one would think. This recipe will explain how to remove the MobileMe / iSync menu bar item.

Lets get rid of that extra menu bar item.
1. Open iSync via Spotlight (command + space bar) or Finder > Applications
2. Go to iSync > Preferences.
3. Uncheck the “Show Status in Menu Bar”. Voila! Sync item removed.

You can also just hold the command key down and drag icons off the menu bar.

Great info, Name. Awesome tutorial, SeaMonk. Parallels currently isn’t very compatible with Snow Leopard so I have been avoiding updating. It’s great to see some Snow Leopard tutorials already…

I thought it was an old version of parallels.. 2.5 maybe? I think that might be the version that would let you run Win 3.1. This is all hypothetical, anyway because… Windows? Really? :-P

Windows kidding aside… only parallels 4.0 will run with Snow Leopard. Even it won’t run in 64-bit mode. To get a stable parallels install you have to boot snow leopard in 32-bit mode. :(

Actually, I just checked and parallels has released a new build to cover a lot of the snow leopard problems… so maybe I can finally update. woot woot! :)

Thanks for the info! That icon was kind of getting on my nerves since I don’t use Mobileme.

BUT the Most Easiest Way is to hold “command” key, and drag any icon from menu bar that you don’t want using your mouse, and drop it below over the desktop… Pooh! It’s gone…
You can even rearrange menu item icons by holding command key…
= )
