iPhone / iPod Touch: How to Use Custom WebClip Icons
The iPhone and iPod Touch allow you to bookmark websites and add them to your home screen. If the site is configured to do so, you will see nice WebClip icon on your iPhone (iPod Touch), but if there is no WebClip icon specified, you will have a shrunk down screenshot of the page for the icon. Here’s how to get custom WebClip Icons for sites without one (or for sites with ones you don’t like).
First, you need to design the icon that you will use. You need to create a 57×57 pixel PNG image. You can use an image from the site, check Google Images for an image, or design your own.
Once you have your 57×57 PNG image:
Go to iPhone webclip icons
1. Go to the Enter shortcut details section.

2. Click the Browse button, then browse to the desired image file.
3. In the Shortcut name textbox, input the name you want displayed beneath the icon.
4. In the Shortcut URL textbox, input the URL for the site you want a WebClip for.
5. In the Email to iPhone textbox, input the email address you use on your iPhone, the site will email you the link for making your WebClip.
6. If you wish to share with others, check the Let others use my shortcut checkbox.
7. Click the Create shortcut button.
8. You will be taken to a webpage that shows you the newly created icon. Now go to your iPhone and check your email for a message with the subject Your iPhone shortcut (sitename).
9. In the email, find the link set up for the site and select it.

10. When Safari opens the site, create your WebClip as usual.
