Firefox’s search box is a helpful feature, but by default it opens the result set in the open tab. If you want to keep your current tab unchanged, you can set Firefox to open the search box’s result set in a new tab.

1. Open Firefox.

2. Go to the address bar and input about:config and press Enter.

3. Scroll down the list of preference names to browser.search.openintab.

4. Double-click the preference name. The value will be changed to true.

Firefox will now open all result sets from the search box in a new tab.
