Would not take an OpenOffice file saved in Office 97 format. Works for text files, but Ignores double spacing... What gives?

I am newbie to ebook concept. I recently purchased new kindle 2. In my case, reading up on my office PDFs during commute is main goal. I first purchased Sony eReader, but returned that for lack of good PDF support. I got my kindle 2 3 days back and using this website was able to convert about 20 odd work related PDFs. They've converted very well much to my surprise. This website was so useful in making kindle 2 useful for me.
Thank you so much.

Calibre is a far better solution for converting between formats. The mobi software is good for authoring directly, but Calibre's more flexible.
