Ubuntu: Change How Often Your System Checks for Updates

By default, Ubuntu automatically checks for updates daily. If this is too frequent for you, you can change the interval to something that better fits your needs.

1. Go to the Main Menu, select System, mouseover Administration, and select Software Sources.

2. Select the Updates tab.

3. Use the Check for updates dropdown to select the interval that you want Ubuntu to look for updates. Choices are Daily, Every two days, Weekly, and Every two weeks.
