omigosh… i love the login sound.. but then, i lost it after i reinstalled Ubuntu 10.10… i don’t know how to get it back…

Command: /usr/bin/canberra-gtk-play –id=”desktop-login” –description=”GNOME Login”
Comment: Plays a sound whenever you log in

Umm, i went to the ubuntu startup Gnome sound thing, and checked it off, it worked, but before doing this, i f’d up and accidentally erased what the box said…. Can ANYONE, copy and paste it in this thread plz? or send me a facebook message thing…. TY :D

This is trivial but worked for me:

Open terminal
cd /usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/stereo
sudo mv system-ready.ogg system-ready.ogg.disabled

Under sound preferences I’ve selected the “no sounds” theme.
Under System>Preferences>Startup Applications I deselected login or startup sound.
Didn’t work. Under System>Preferences>Startup Applications I “removed” login or startup sound. I still get the startup sound

no need to do anything other goto prefs and click on start up sound on or off..

For Ubuntu 9.1
System -> Preferences -> Startup Applications
From Startup Programs tab
Scroll down to GNOME Login Sound
Remove the check
