It can also cause the missing operating system or error loading operating system erros, just boot intop ubuntu, goto gparted and right click your vista partition and click manage flags and click boot and click apply or ok. Check all of your discs that are not HFS+ or mac formatted and edit the boot.ini in your vista partition if you have xp to point to the corrrect partition if it wont boot. Assuming that's after I install OS X.. won't the computer boot into OS X by default? How can i then boot into vista? thxs.
