As you download files from the internet, Safari keeps them in the download list. Over time, this can leave you with a lengthy list that becomes time consuming to clean up when using the default settings that require manual removal of the list items. To change how Download List Items are deleted, follow these steps:

1. Open Safari.

2. Click Edit and select Preferences.

3. From the General tab, use the Remove download list items dropdown to choose how you want the list items removed. Choices are Manually (the default), When Safari Quits, and Upon Successful Download.

4. Close the Preferences window.
