If the text displayed in your Safari browser isn't looking very sharp, changing the font smoothing setting can greatly improve things. While not as crisp as Microsoft's ClearType, it still does a fairly good job of sharpening the text displayed in the browser.

1. Open Safari.

2. Click Edit and select Preferences.

3. Select the Appearance tab.

4. Use the Font smoothing dropdown to select the desired setting. The choices are: Light, Medium, and Strong.

5. Close the Preferences window.
