Comments on: XP: Rename Recycle Bin

Somehow my recycle bin ended up being labeled “Statement Page 2(12)”. Obviosly this is the name of a desktop download file, that would have been thrown to the trash. I followed the instructions above only to discover that I don’t even have the file @C:\WINDOWS\system32\SHELL32.dll,-8964

My files go from @C:\WINDOWS\system32\SHELL32.dll,-32517 to @C:\WINDOWS\system32\SHELL32.dll,-9216 (when listing alphabetically).

What can I do to rename my recycle bin?

You can rename the default icons by adding a value for the following keys:
Recycling Bin –
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}

My Documents at-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID\{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}

My Computer at- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID\{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}

Default value is “” , so rename it whatever you want. Don’t forget to hit F5 from the desktop to refresh.
