Outlook 2007: Avoid Appointment Conflicts by Viewing Calendars in Overlay Mode

If you are running multiple calendars, it is easy to accidentally schedule conflicting appointments and cause yourself some unwanted headaches. Outlook 2007 makes it easy to find conflicting appointments by using Overlay Mode which superimposes one calendar ontop of another. The scheduled appointments for both calendars show, making it simple to find and correct conflicts.

1. Open your two calendars.

2. Next to the name of one of the calendars, you will find an arrow pointing sideways.

3. Click the arrow to superimpose the calendars using Overlay Mode. You can select either calendar to bring it to the front, however appointments for both calendars will be shown.

To return to Side-By-Side Mode, click the downward pointing arrow next to either calendar’s name.
