Vista: Hide Recent Items

I am so tired of seeing recent items on the start menu. This is how to disable it.

The first thing I do when I sit down at a co-worker’s desk is to check out his/her recent items. It is an instant peek into what someone has been doing for the day.

Protect your privacy. Here is how to disable it.

1. Right click the Start Orb of the Start Menu
2. Select Properties from the context menu
3. Uncheck Store and display a list of recently open files
4. Click OK
