Vista: IE7 Icon on Desktop – Easy!
No reason to registry hack your internet explorer icon back onto your desktop. Here are the simple ways to put your IE icon back where it used to be.
A couple of different methods for getting your IE icon back onto your desktop in Vista.
First, just drag and drop it from your quick launch toolbar or the start menu. Here’s a screenshot showing the drag and drop from the start menu.
Or, you can just manually create the IE7 shortcut.
1. Right-click on a blank area of the desktop
2. Select New
3. Select Shortcut
4. Paste this into the Location: “C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe”
5. Press Next
6. Name it Internet Explorer or whatever you wish
