This tech-recipe describes how to display 24-hr time in the system tray in Windows Vista. If you like leading zeros, this will show you how to do that as well.

1. Click Start Orb
2. Click Control Panel
3. Click Classic View in the left column
4. Select Formats tab
5. Click Customize this format…
6. Click Time tab
7. Change the time format as one the following:

h:mm:ss tt – 6:26:20 PM
hh:mm:ss tt – 06:27:41 PM (Leading Zeros)
H:mm:ss – 18:28:20
HH:mm:ss tt – 02:18:10 (2:18 in the morning)

8. Then click OK until you close the dialog boxes

In Step 7, there should not be a 'tt' as it is 24 Hour Time; also does not appear in the Control Panel.

Also, I was not able to find the 'formats' tab, so I just searched the Control Panel (using the search bar at the top) for 'Time'. About Half-Way Down the list was "Change the Way time is displayed." Then hit Customize this Format...", then hit the Time tab. THEN you can follow Step 7.
