Vista: Replace or Hide Recycle Desktop Icon

Tagged: Microsoft Vista Where has my Recycle Icon gone? For some reason it seems that Vista sometimes forgets that the recycle icon should be on the desktop. Here is how to tell the OS if you want the recycle icon on the desktop or not.
Some people want it there, some people don’t. Putting or hiding the recycle icon on the desktop is very easy.
1. Right-click on a blank area of the desktop
2. Select Personalize
3. From the left Tasks column, select Change Desktop Icons
4. Select if you want the recycle bin or not
5. Click OK
