I see that the comments are old, so maybe you already found the answer.. I got the same error message, and it turned out that the “quick” pairing option on my PC had set up the phone as a modem.

Remove the pairing profile under “bluetooth settings” on your PC and do a new connection, but instead of the “quick” set-up, do a “custom” setting. When you get to the settings, make sure to select HID (Human Interface Device) as the connection type and it works..

hmm... doesnt work for me. It just give me a message on my phone saying
"Bluetooth Connect Failed Check Bluetooth settings on other device: Bluetooth on, Device visible, Device in range." Whats interesting to note about this is that i can pair my laptop with my phone. I just cant enable the remote control function. The phone is already connected via bluetooth and i only get that message when i go into remote control and then select one of them....

Any idea whats going on here??
