Do you have a WM5 phone and an unlimited data plan? If so, this recipe might be for you! I’ll explain how to stream a shoutcast station to your own WM5 phone using TCPMP and the free shoutcast plugin and winamp and of course BrowseAMP.

Requirements:
-WM5 Phone or Device w/access to the internet
-Winamp
-Shoutcast
-BrowseAMP plugin for Winamp
-High speed internet connection.

First things first, lets go and get TCPMP for your WM5 device. There are a ton of media players out there, but I’ve found TCPMP to be the most robust. Here is a link to their site.

After you have it installed on your phone, we will need to install Winamp and then learn how to setup a Shoutcast server. I have a recipe on here that explains this. You can ignore the IIS part unless you also want to setup your webserver in XP Prof.

I have created my own custom browseamp template optimized for mobile/psp/pda browsers (also a super slim wap version w/basic controls).
Here’s a link to that (rapidshare link):

Finally, just open your phone’s browser and put in your IP address:8080 (ie 65.5.61.101:8080), this will bring you to the shoutcast page. Go ahead and start streaming by clicking the listen now. It should then open up TCPMP and start streaming to your phone. (i’d recommend using a 56kb/s for the shoutcast stream but you can adjust according to your connection rate on your phone; ie evdo vs edge).

Then to control the playlist, just open the browser again and type in your ip address:port (ie 65.5.61.101:8090 —> is the port you set in browseamp). Hopefully you’ll get my portal page.

Here’s a link to me explaining this and showing it in action.

ENJOY! :D

TIPS/TRICKS/NOTES:

-#1 tip!! be sure to open up your firewall for TCP ports that correspond to your shoutcast server and browseamp (in our example 8080 and 8090) and also have windows firewall allow those ports too.

-Get a dyndns account (free) and then have it redirect the dns name to your ip
