Vista Photo Gallery: Stop Thumbnails from Getting Larger

Posted October 31, 2006 by Hack_Vista in Microsoft Vista

In the new Vista Photo Gallery, thumbnails pop up and get bigger when the user hovers the mouse pointer over them. This can be annoying when trying to scan through a large series of pictures. Here is how to control that feature.

When a user places the mouse pointer over a thumbnail in the new Vista Photo Gallery, the thumbnail enlarges to give a larger preview. This feature is actually visually appealing; however, it can be annoying for power users. Here is how to disable it:

1. Open Vista Photo Gallery.
2. Click the File menu.
3. Click Options.
4. Uncheck the Show picture and video previews in tooltips check box.
5. Click OK.
