When you open up a zillion tabs in the new version of firefox, arrows form on each side of the tab strip to allow you to scroll to show more tabs. You can disable this by editing the firefox configuration.

If you like to keep shrinking your tabs like the old version of firefox, just disable the new scroll feature:

1. Open Firefox 2.0
2. In the address bar enter: about:config
3. Double-click on browser.tabs.tabMinWidth and change the value to 0
